Museum reopens on July 2! It's been so long since we've had visitors!

At this time masks are required along with maintaining social distancing.

Norm Skare - A True Visionary, Norm Skare Day, July 26th at 1 pm at Skare Park

Celebrate the gift from Norm Skare in July 1972 that established Skare Park. Celebrate Norm Skare's birthday too - July 22 - with cake & ice cream at Norm Skare Day at Skare Park, July 26th at 1 pm. 

August 2020

Sneak Peek at the History Trunks, August 2 & 30, 11 am to 4 pm

Developed for use by elementary school teachers in their classrooms, the History Trunks have been updated and several new ones have been put together. All are welcome to look these resources over and we hope teachers will find them useful.

They Took to the Streets - But Never Without a Hat! Reception on August 16th, 11 am to 4 pm

An exhibition in the Cabinet of Curiosities telling the story of the 19th Amendment which passed 100 years ago on August 18, 1920.

Annual Events

The Flagg Township Museum hosts a variety of special events each year, below are descriptions and photos of a few of the events that have been held at the museum.


The museum holds a Chautauqua program in March with a different topic each of the four nights. Recent programs included Whitcomb Locomotives, vintage baseball, grist mills, Del Monte in Rochelle, heirloom plants, and Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Railroad Days

Railroad Days in Rochelle are held the first weekend in June.
Many people come to Rochelle Railroad Park to view over 80 trains each day at the only railroad diamond in the State of Illinois.

In conjunction with their events, the museum invites visitors to view our railroad exhibits that include a railroad switch, blueprints of Whitcomb Locomotives and a bench from the Rochelle Chicago and Northwestern passenger station.
